Fertility/Infertility

Are you on a journey to start or expand your family, but struggling with infertility? At Eau Claire Acupuncture, we understand the emotional and physical challenges that infertility can bring. We're here to offer you hope and support through acupuncture and Chinese medicine.

Our Approach to Infertility

First things first, we believe in the power of words and intention. Let's start focusing on your fertility not your infertility.

Fertility can be a complex and deeply personal issue, often involving a combination of physical, emotional, and lifestyle factors. We practice a holistic approach to fertility that considers the whole person.

At Eau Claire Acupuncture we think of each person's fertility like the potential of seed. A seed is a powerful and flawless miracle of nature but it requires the right environment to prosper; the right amount of sunlight, nutritious soil, and protection from harsh environments. We focus on nurturing your body like the soil that produces a plentiful harvest.

Our experienced acupuncturists work closely with you to determine the root cause of your condition, even if it's been determined unexplained by your medical providers. Together we will create a personalized treatment plan that addresses your unique needs and challenges.

The Benefits of Fertility Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been used for centuries to promote overall health and well-being, and it has shown promising results in supporting fertility. Here are some of the ways acupuncture can benefit those struggling with infertility:

01

Regulating Hormones

Acupuncture can help balance hormones, which is crucial for regulating the menstrual cycle, promoting ovulation, and improving egg quality.

03

Stress Reduction & Management

Infertility can be stressful, and stress can further complicate fertility issues. Acupuncture works directing on the nervous system and is known to reduce stress levels, promoting relaxation and emotional well-being.

02

Improving Blood Flow

By enhancing blood circulation to the reproductive organs, acupuncture can optimize the uterine lining and create a more conducive environment for conception.

04

Improves Male Fertility

Did you know that 30-40% of infertility is male factor? Acupuncture isn't just for women. It can also improve sperm quality and motility, contributing to male fertility.

IVF & IUI Enhancement

Many individuals undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) choose to complement their treatments with acupuncture. Acupuncture before and after transfer has been shown to increase the success rates of IVF procedures.

In a study published in the journal Fertility and Sterility in 2002 by Paulus et al., it was reported that the pregnancy rate in women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) increased significantly when acupuncture was performed before and after embryo transfer. The acupuncture group had a pregnancy rate of 42.5% compared to 26.3% in the control group. Our clinic uses this Paulus Protocol for pre & post transfer treatments.

We recommend starting acupuncture treatments at a minimum 6 weeks before your transfer. Please call our office as soon as you are considering IVF so that we can plan accordingly.

Electro-acupuncture may modulate reproductive hormone levels and the effects seem to persist for at least 12 weeks after treatment with no significant side effects. EA may improve the ovarian reserve of patients with DOR.

The study found that electro-acupuncture resulted in a significant increase in menstrual regularity and ovulation frequency among women with PCOS.

"Electroacupuncture has a regulating effect on the key hormones that impact the thyroid: TSH, T3, T4, estradiol, LH, and FSH. Therefore, we can draw the preliminary conclusion that acupuncture can delay the progress of Hashimoto's thyroiditis and improve its fertility."

This review article discusses the benefits of acupuncture in the context of IUI/IVF. It touches upon acupuncture's influence on hormonal balance and ovarian function, which can be relevant to individuals with low AMH.

This study investigates the impact of acupuncture on sperm parameters in males with subfertility related to low sperm quality. The results indicate that acupuncture may have a positive effect on sperm quality and overall fertility potential.
